How to inform on threats without frightening?

On January 22, 2019, at the headquarters of the Stratpoints Foundation a seminar entitled “How to inform on threats without frightening?” took place.

The seminar was an internal meeting of the IICS and the Stratpoints Foundation. A starting point for the meeting was a report prepared by General Jarosław Stróżyk on the issue of proper forecasting of threats and the provision of information on them.

Although the internet currently allows one to gain an extensive knowledge about the world, a daily verification of that knowledge focused on the interests of one’s own country is necessary. In order to properly define exterior threats, objective, independent, timely experts able to read and interpret facts, as well as signals emanating from the surrounding world, are needed. What does that mean?

The solution ensuring society’s trust in institutions that convey information on threats, and also those uncovering the disinformation activities of the opponent, is always the construction of three pillars which contribute to a competent evaluation (as well as the avoidance of mistakes and errors):

  1. Strong institutions of the information and analytical sector
  2. Investments in personnel, training and career planing and the minimization of soldier/officer layoffs
  3. Cooperation with foreign partners
