Author Meeting of MISO Members with Vincent V. Severski

On 23 April 2026, another event in the “MISO Author Meetings” series was held at the headquarters of the International Institute of Civil Society. The Foundation’s guest was Vincent V. Severski – a writer, former intelligence officer, and author of acclaimed thriller and spy novels.

The meeting was hosted by Marcin Hinz, a MISO associate, who moderated the discussion and oversaw its course, enabling participants to actively engage in the conversation and ask questions.

The event was primarily devoted to the author’s latest book, „Tailor” („Krawiec” in Polish), although the discussion also covered his overall work, professional experience, and the behind-the-scenes aspects of his writing process. Participants had the opportunity to hear reflections on literary inspirations, the creative process, and the realities of the intelligence world, which form an important backdrop to his novels.

During the meeting, several current and significant issues related to contemporary security challenges were also addressed. The discussion touched, among other things, on the role of civil society as a key element of the state security system, as well as the functioning of intelligence services, both in Poland and globally. The conversation offered insight into these matters from the perspective of the practitioner who had been directly involved in intelligence operations for many years.

The event brought together an audience interested in both literature and topics related to security and the functioning of intelligence services. The meeting was interactive and encouraged the exchange of views and experiences.

At the end of the event, following the tradition of the series, participants had the opportunity to receive a copy of the book with a personal dedication from the author, as well as to have a brief conversation in an intimate and informal setting.
