The national security - an issue for discussion for civil society?

On 6th April 2017, the 6th meeting of the Civil Society Debate Club was held re. the national security in terms of being an issue for discussion for civil society. Our guests for the event included general Stanisław Koziej and general Adam Rapacki, and colonel Krzysztof Olkowicz. As usual, the meeting was organized by the IICS in close cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Poland.

Our guests presented their view of the current geopolitical situation of Poland, specifically in terms of national security and defence policies and foreign affairs. Next, the external and internal security of the state was discussed as well as the public order in the context of national agencies and institutions and their daily operation.

Again, in the second part of our meeting the participants asked their own questions. These were largely centred on Poland’s national security strategy, the current problems regarding the leaders of secret service and special forces, cyberterrorism and other issues related to general security of modern states.

The Civil Society Debate Club is a project that we launched together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Poland back in 2015. It is meant as means of communication for the young leaders of NGOs, think tanks, business, culture and science, politics, administration and the media. The Club is a platform for interesting discussions with special inspiring guests, deeply engaged in civil society and its meaning. Through this initiative, we hope to promote the idea of civil society and increasing social and civil awareness of the Polish society.
