GAMIFIED CIVIC WORKSHOPS IN THE MIRZEC MUNICIPALITY

On September 11 and 18, 2025, the “Gamified Civic Workshops” were held in the Mirzec municipality, jointly organized by the International Institute of Civil Society, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the “Look Wider” Foundation.

The first session took place on September 11 in Mirzec and was dedicated to communication and public speaking. The meeting began with integration exercises and simple improvisation games, which helped the young councilors get to know one another better and build mutual trust. This was especially important, as the Youth Council of Mirzec Municipality had only recently started its third term, with both experienced activists and new members on board. In the second part of the workshop, participants focused on practical skills—overcoming barriers to public speaking, voice modulation, building arguments, and responding to unpredictable situations.

The second workshop was held on September 18 at the Creativity Center “Pałacyk” in Starachowice and dealt with the issue of global inequalities. Participants took part in the simulation game World Trade, where they assumed the roles of representatives of countries at different stages of socio-economic development. Some teams received a lot of resources but few tools, while others had tools but limited resources. This situation required negotiation, exchange, and forming alliances. The game allowed the youth to develop negotiation and resource management skills, while also serving as a starting point for a discussion on justice, exploitation, and structures of inequality.

The workshops were attended by councilors of the Youth Council of Mirzec Municipality, who emphasized that the sessions not only provided them with knowledge and tools useful in social activity but also offered an excellent opportunity for cooperation, sharing experiences, and having fun together.
