German CDU campaign strategists on visit to MISO: Polish elections, media and civil society
The CDU delegation included, among others, the general secretaries of the party's federal state structures and heads of staff from various German regions. The main purpose of the visit was to learn about the peculiarities of Polish election campaigns - their themes, methods and tools used especially in digital communication.
The meeting was opened by Professor Renata Mieńkowska-Norkiene, chairwoman of the MISO Program Council, who outlined the context of the current presidential campaign in Poland. She highlighted the key factors influencing voters' decisions - from economic issues, such as inflation, to psychological mechanisms shaping public attitudes. She also stressed the importance of clear and consistent presentation of candidates' political offerings.
Marcin Hinz - MISO associate and director of qualitative research at Polish Society of Market and Opinion Researchers (PTBRiO) then took the floor, presenting a report entitled: “Elections, media and its influence on the Polish voters' attitude - Main results of the qual Election Observer”. In his speech, he discussed the level of political trust in Poland, the role of traditional and social media in building campaign messages and their influence on the mobilization of the electorate.
The event was also attended by editor Wojciech Szeląg, a member of the MISO Program Council, a journalist associated with Polsat, Interia and TVP Info, who joined the discussion on the importance of public debate and the quality of information during the campaign.
After the substantive part, a lively and concrete discussion began. German campaign managers asked questions about the strategies used in Poland, the role of civil society in the electoral process, and the relationship between politics and the media. In turn, MISO representatives had the opportunity to learn about campaign practices used in Germany, especially in the context of the recently concluded CDU campaign.
The meeting was not only an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, but also a stimulus for further cooperation between expert communities from Poland and Germany. The topics discussed remain particularly relevant in the context of the ongoing presidential campaign in Poland, and the initiative itself exemplifies MISO's commitment to building international dialogue and developing civil society.
