The guarantees for protection of the constitutional rights and freedoms of the individual


On 23rd May 2014 a scientific conference The guarantees for protection of the constitutional rights and freedoms – organized by the IICS was held at the Senate building. Our partners for the event were Głuchowski Siemiątkowski Zwara Law Firm and Wydawnictwo C.H. Beck [C.H. Beck Publishing]. The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Justice Mr Marek Biernacki, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw Prof. Krzysztof Rączka and the Dean of the District Bar of Attorney in Warsaw, att. Paweł Rybiński.

The Conference was opened by the Chairmanof the IICSMateusz Komorowski, followed by the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Tomasz Giaro. The discussion took place in two panels: expert and academic (students and doctoral candidates). The event was a great opportunity for discussion regarding the legal guarantees for protection of constitutional rights and freedoms, where the panelists talked about such issues as the effectiveness of protection in Poland and the role of courts and institutions.


The first panel ”Protection of constitutional rights and freedoms of a human being and citizen – assumptions vs thesystem” included speeches by:

  • prof. Artur Nowak-Far, Vice-secretary of the State (Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
  • Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, President of the Supreme Audit Office
  • dr Bohdan Zdziennicki, former President of the Constitutional Tribunal (2008–2010) and judge of the same
  • dr Piotr Zientarski, Polish Senator
  • prof. Marek Chmaj, Head of the Dept. of Public Law, Human Rights and the EU Law at the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences at SWPS
  • prof. Dariusz Dudek, representing Głuchowski Siemiątkowski Zwara Law Firm, Head of the Dept. of Constitutional Law at KUL
  • adw. Paweł Rybiński, Dean of the District Bar of Attorneys in Warsaw
  • dr hab. Marcin Wiącek, Lead Specialist of the Judgments’ Bureau of the Supreme Administrative Court
  • doc. dr Ryszard Piotrowski, academic of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw

 

The second panel ”Protection of constitutional rights and freedoms of a human being and citizen – legal regulations and academic assumptions” included speeches by:
