INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CIVIL SOCIETY SETS UP ELECTION OBSERVATORY

The upcoming parliamentary elections in Poland, which will kick off the entire electoral cycle in our country, bring many challenges for civil society. Since 2015, reputable rankings have regularly pointed to the weakening of democracy and its institutions in Poland. We believe that an election campaign conducted on equal terms and providing citizens with access to reliable information are among the basic principles of fair and democratic elections.

That is why the International Institute of Civil Society, along with an expert-analytical unit of MISO Analysis Centre, have established MISO Electoral Observatory. Through our network of experts, institutions and organisations working with MISO, we will study the election campaign and the processes affecting free elections. Our mission is to make the election campaign and elections in Poland as transparent and accessible as possible to all citizens.

The activities of MISO Electoral Observatory will primarily focus on:

  • conducting media monitoring;

  • examining the impact of media messages on political attitudes and electoral decisions.

  • cooperation under the Election Accessibility Initiative.

  • a barometer of public opinion sentiments around key themes in the political debate.

  • education and promotion of good practices in the electoral process.

  • pro-frequency activities and encouraging active participation in an electoral campaign and elections.
