MISO PARTNERS WITH SOCIAL INITIATIVE 35. THE YEAR OF FREEDOM

The International Institute of Civil Society, together with 50 organizations and associations, is joining the social initiative "35. The Year of Freedom." On March 26, MISO hosted the first meeting of the organizations involved in this year's celebration, which focuses on three important, for Polish women and men, anniversaries: the 25th anniversary of Poland's membership in NATO structures, the 35th anniversary of the June 4, 1989, elections and the 20th anniversary of Poland's membership in the European Union.

The new social initiative 35. The Year of Freedom is an open platform for all citizens, but also for social organizations, schools, institutions, companies or municipalities for who democracy in Poland is a value. In 2024, 35 years after the Round Table Talks, the June 4 elections, the reactivation of the Senate, and the establishment of Tadeusz Mazowiecki's government, after 25 years of membership in NATO structures and 20 years in the European Union, we want to think together about how we can use for the future what has happened in Poland over the last three and a half decades. Let's listen to each other, recapitulate the successes and failures, draw conclusions and be together again!

Recalling the experiences of the last 35 years, we want to talk together, the older generation with the young, the right-wing with the left-wing, about the values which are the foundation of the transformation, such as freedom, democracy, solidarity, rule of law, justice, security, self-governance, openness, tolerance, inclusiveness or development. These are our European values, firmly rooted in the Polish Constitution and culture. Openness and diversity are important in the Initiative 35. The Year of Freedom, everyone can celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Polish transition in their own way.

You can read more about the action on the initiative's website.
