German regulations re. minimum wages in the light of the EU law

On 22nd April 2015 at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw a debate was held under the patronage of the Dean, Prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Rączka regarding German regulations re. minimum wages in the light of the EU law. The event was co-organized by the IICS and the Faculty’s students’ club – Interdyscyplinarne Koło Naukowe Prawa Niemieckiego i Niemieckiej Kultury Prawnej.

The speakers underlined the lack of analyses regarding German minimum wages provisions in relation to that of the EU and certain problems concerning particular definitions the German regulations introduce in this respect. The participants had a chance to ask their own questions regarding i.a.: German protectionism via regulations such as the so called Mindestlohngesetz (minimum wages act). In the course of our discussion, it was emphasized, however, that the crucial point would be the analysis of the German minimum wages act performed by the European Commission itself.
