POLISH–AMERICAN SEMINAR

The International Institute of the Civil Society organized on 15th January 2013 a Polish-American seminar being a part of Discover America under the name „Micro-targeting: How U.S. Campaigns Harness Data to Win Votes” for the representatives of youth political organizations. Mr Frankie Sturm – Vice-Attaché for Culture of the Embassy of the United States of America in Poland was the guest of the meeting.

The representatives of all youth organizations from parties in the Polish Parliament participated in the seminar (except for Youth Forum of Prawo i Sprawiedliwość which didn’t take part in the project).

After the presentation of Mr Sturm the discussion was opened. The participants were interested in particular in the methods of organizing election campaigns in the US, the issues the candidates concentrate on and the arguments used in order to win the voters. Many questions were connected with new technologies, making use of Facebook or Twitter and the means of gathering funds for election campaign. Differences between elections/campaigns in the US and Poland were also discussed.

IICS is planning more meetings as a part of Discover America in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America in Poland.
