SCIENCE EXCURSION TO PETERSBURG


Maciej Pisz, the Board Member of the International institute of Civil Society took part within the period 3-10th October 2012 in a science excursion to Petersburg under the Polish-Russian program ,,Academia in Public Discourse Poland-Russia”. This project which is executed – from Polish side by the Artes Liberales Faculty of the University of Warsaw and Artes Liberales Foundation is aimed at creation of concrete relations between Polish and Russian academic societies.

The science excursion to Petersburg entailed the participation in the International Conference “Liberal Education in Russia and the World”, in Polish-Russian Debate “Individual, Collective, Civil, Corporate and National Memory and Values” and in the workshops “Identity of St. Petersburg”.

During the Debate “Individual, Collective, Civil, Corporate and National Memory and Values” the speeches were given by many well-known  lecturers from Poland and Russia, among others prominent representatives of the world of science, media and also clerics. The lecturers discussed broadly interpreted “nation identity” in relation to Polish and Russian nation. From the Polish side the speeches were given i.a. prof. Adam Daniel Rotfeld, prof. Jan Kieniewicz and archbishop Henryk Muszyński.
